Honey-tongued Theatre Productions Ltd was formed in 2012 by Filip Krenus (Artistic Director) and Stuart Wakefield (Associate Artist) to both curate and champion the works of playwrights from South-Eastern Europe whose works still remain largely unknown or underperformed in the UK.
Based in London and Croatia, we are the first professional production company in the UK focusing on South Eastern Europe and our work, from readings to full-scale productions, will engage audiences and provide the opportunity to challenge their preconceptions of both European and South Slavic theatre.
Honey-Tongued aims to entice a broad range of audiences and explore the rich story-telling lore of South Eastern Europe whilst cross-culturally celebrating language.
Our artistic ambition is both to introduce classical texts of South Eastern Europe and find contemporary resonance in them and promote new writing through supporting the work of emerging playwrights. Thus we wish to foster and develop cultural links between the UK and South Eastern Europe and welcome collaboration with European artists and cultural institutions.
Above all, Honey-Tongued wishes to draw audiences who share our understanding that exciting, entertaining and thought-provoking theatre matters, regardless of its origin.
